Welcome to the Nanaimo Yacht Club

About Nanaimo Yacht Club

Established in 1931 to encourage the sport of yachting, to foster seamanship and navigation, and to provide and maintain a suitable clubhouse and moorage facilities for the use and recreation of its members.

A historic maritime city located in central Vancouver Island, Nanaimo is closely associated with the sea. The Nanaimo Yacht Club is an integral part of this community, with approximately 750 members who enjoy benefits such as a modern clubhouse and first rate moorage. By volunteering for administrative and maintenance positions, the members have achieved a 1st class facility and very attractive rates.

The Nanaimo Yacht Club is clearly indicated on the Nanaimo Harbour chart at the south end of Newcastle Channel and just north west of the main anchorage.

Applications for membership are being accepted from anyone who has attained the age of 19, who resides in the area defined as School District 68 or School District 69; who followed the prescribed procedure, paid the prescribed fees and has been accepted for membership by the Executive Committee.

You get a copy of the yearbook AND placement of your ad in the Advertiser’s wall of Fame in the lower level of the clubhouse.

Volunteers Appreciation Night

To: NYC Volunteers

The majority of the work at NYC is done by volunteers, it has always been our Club's greatest strength.

On March 16th (1700-2100 hrs), the Commodore and Executive of NYC are hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Night, and you are invited.  The Evening will include dinner and beverages, we have some interesting speakers, and it will be an opportunity for all the people that make NYC work to socialize for a few hours.  To get some numbers for the caterer, I would ask volunteers who plan to attend to RSVP to rskaos@shaw.ca by Feb. 28th.  You may receive more than one invitation if you are on more than one Committee, you need only respond once.

Spouses are welcome.  We hope you can attend.

On behalf of the Executive Committee

Rob Wiebe, PC
